In their exploration of the island getaway paradise they have created, anAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayer has discovered an interesting detail about a patch of weeds. Weeds have clutteredAnimal Crossingvillages due to a lack of upkeep since the first game was released back in 2001, and that’s no different withAnimal Crossing: New Horizonswhich has a few different types of weeds.
A Reddit user has garnered 1,100 upvotes on a screenshot from theirAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsisland, highlighting a unique detail about one of the common types of weeds players may encounter. A handful ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsweedsmay pop up on any given save, prompting players to pick them from the ground before they get too unruly. Once weeds are allowed to spread beyond their initial space on the map, they quickly take over large portions of anAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsisland, and the clusters used to represent the item grow along the way.

Reddit user Pettyfan45 recently shared a top-down screenshot from theirAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsvillage that focuses on two of the larger patches of weeds, a rock, and a few trees. Between theAnimal CrossingVillagerand the nearest tree are two squares of the map’s grid that have weeds on them that form the number 2 on a slight angle. Easily compared to the other types ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsweeds that players may discover, Pettyfan45’s screenshot includes a few different patterns of weeds that are less visibly distinguishable than the ones pointed out by the Reddit user.
Because weeds inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsoften sprout next to each other, the ones that form a 2 may usually be surrounded on all sides to hide the symbol more effectively than in Pettyfan45’s image. Some fans could have already created unique designs of the number throughAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' Able Sisterslocation, but they may also be able to create a 2 naturally using existing weeds simply by ignoring them. Given that Pettyfan45 only shared an image of the 2 weeds, it’s currently unclear whether picking them up will change the pattern back to the basic one upon planting them in the ground again or not.
ManyAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfans may have walked by or picked up weeds similar to the one spotlighted by Pettyfan45 without a second glance, but upon seeing the 2, it may be difficult to see anything else in the weeds. Because it takes a fewdays inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfor weeds to grow large enough to create patches as big as in Pettyfan45’s image, players looking to replicate the 2 aesthetic may have to wait around for a while before they’ll sprout.
