Here begins the tale of a new Valkyrie. Valkyrie Elysium is the latest title in the ‘Valkyrie’ series that depicts the ‘death of humankind’ and ‘the existence of gods’ with a unique worldview based on Norse mythology. As the first action-RPG of the series, Valkyrie Elysium retains the familiar special attacks and combo system while taking it to the next level with a new three-dimensional, fast paced battle system. Valkyrie Elysium boasts a unique art style that beautifully depicts a collapsing world caused by the onset of Ragnarok, and composer Motoi Sakuraba (Valkyrie series, Tales series, Star Ocean series) returns to create a captivating original soundtrack.
Amazon is offering a significant discount on thePlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions ofValkyrie Elysium, which are now priced at $39.99. Normally both versions of this role-playing video game have a listing price of $59.99. Now, for a limited time, however, shoppers can get the Square Enix video game at a 33% discount, which is $20 less.
Valkyrie Elysiumis developed in collaboration betweenSquare Enixand Soleil, and published by Square Enix. The game is an action role-playing game set in the world of Norse mythology. The game follows Nora, a valkyrie created to find and purify souls. This in turn helps an injured Odin who is trying to defeat Fenrir during Ragnarok. The game is part of theValkyrie Profileseries, which spans now a total of five games.

However,Valkyrie Elysiumis the first non-handheld game in the series in over 15 years. While it is a spiritual successor toValkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, it uses a new battle system. Instead of a turn-based one,Valkyrie Elysiumemploys an action-based battle system. The players assume the role of Nora, a valkyrie and lesser god created by the All-Father Odin. Her adventures take her to Midgard, where she has to seek souls to purify.
This ritual strengthens an injured Odin, who’s fighting Fenrir to avoid the completion of Ragnarok. The resurrected warriors, known as Einherjar, each tell a story of how they met their maker. The player is able to call Einherjar to aid Nora in battles. However, the Einherjar are not controlled by the player in this game. On her adventures in Midgard, she also comes across a valkyrie called Hilde, who’s working for Fenrir. Both thePlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions ofValkyrie Elysiumare now available for a discounted price of $39.99 on Amazon.
