Abandoneddeveloper Blue Box Games Studios is finally talking a bit more about the upcoming title. In fact, the latestdevelopment update forAbandonedsheds light on some of the game’s story.

Abandonedhas had a rather long and twisty road of development since it was first announced. Hype was high at first, with rumors that the game had some kind of greater connection toSilent Hillor Hideo Kojima, though those theories have since been debunked. Then came the announcement that theBlue Box Game Studios had officially delayed its releasefollowing controversy surrounding its PS5 app.

After rumors thatAbandonedhad been canceledsprung up, the developer first shot that talk down and then, perhaps as a way to prove that everything is still full speed ahead, actually talked about the games’ main character and what that character will be facing in the game’s world.

The game’s creator, Hasan Kahraman, recently had a sit-down interview with theSacred Symbols Podcastwhere he talked aboutAbandoned’s lead character, Jason Longfield. According to Kahraman, Jason is going to be going up against a cult and its leader who just happens to be his estranged older brother.

TheAbandonedcreator said that as Jason travels through the game’s world, he’ll be meeting and teaming up with companions here and there, but he’ll eventually have to face down that older brother in order to win the fight against the cult. Just how long the path might be and what else Jason might fight along the way is still being kept very much under wraps. The same goes for when the game might eventually be released and when people can expect to see or hear some real updates about the bigger story.

While those who have been excited about what the game might be and when it might come could be a bit annoyed that this latest interview still didn’t give a ton of info on many specifics, it’s still more info than Blue Box has shared in the last few months. The cancellation rumors started after the developer took the step of deleting some tweetsabout the future ofAbandoned. While there’s still not a clear reason for why the company decided to take that step, people who are still excited about the game can at least take some solace. It sure seems thatAbandonedhas not, in fact; been abandoned by Blue Box Games Studios just yet.

Abandonedis currently in development for PC and PS5.
