Summary
Animehas a reputation for strong female characters that are often the focus of their own series or movies, something that’s elusive in certain kinds of Western media. People who like anime often give the presence of female characters as one of their first and most important reasons.

A character who is fearless isn’t the same as a character who is aggressive, brave, or reckless. A fearless character does some of the most terrifying things that viewers will ever see, crazy stuff that only happens in theawesome and vast world of anime, and they do it without blinking an eye.
8Nausicaa (Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind)
No harness, no lifeline, no problem. For the girl that spends the day wandering around in a toxic forest filled with giant bugs, zipping around on this glider probably doesn’t feel very risky. Nausicaa’s normal day consists of riding the wind on the Mehve and collecting poisonous plants.
When a military power attacks the Valley and takes over, Nausicaa actually kills a few soldiers with what looks like a golf club before facing the army’s commanders, who take her hostage to subdue her people. She eventually learns the secret of the angry bugs and stares down a whole army of charging Ohmu and doesn’t break a sweat the whole time.

7Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan)
The creator of Mikasa, Hajime Isayama, was inspired by another female warrior, Casca ofBerserkfame. Mikasa’s fearless nature comes from her love for Eren, and she joins the Survey Corps partly to follow him. Her calm nature is meant to contrast with his more spirited and aggressive character.

The sense of despair and desperation that brings down some of the other characters inAttack on Titandoesn’t seem to have the same effect on Mikasa. On the contrary, she seems to grow even more resolute and fearless the higher the stakes.
6Mokoto Kusanagi (Ghost In The Shell)
Also one ofanime’s famously stoic characters, Mokoto, is a dedicated planner and loyal to her boss, but she’s not afraid to step over some lines to get what she wants. Her powers of combat back up her sheer force of will, and she’s equally good with ranged weapons as she is with hand-to-hand combat.
Mokoto isn’t afraid to ask tough questions about her existence, no matter where those answers might lead, and she follows that path to a whole new state of being. Batou, her famously no-nonsense partner, might be brave, but he’s not fearless like she is.

5Lady Eboshi (Princess Mononoke)
The woman who goes out into the forest to hunt gods is the definition of fearless, and the living embodiment of that sentiment is Lady Eboshi. She’s not afraid of the forest spirits, competing feudal lords, spies who pretend to be monks, the devastating effects of leprosy, or even the Emporer himself.

Eboshi is the lord of Irontown, and she not only believes in an inclusive workforce but she’s also a strong advocate for other women who are just as fearless as she is. When Mononoke and the wolves attack Irontown, she recruits other women into the defensive force based on which ones want revenge for their own husbands lost to the savage forest.
4Teresa Of The Faint Smile (Claymore)
It’s hard to choose which of the cold, calculating, and generally badass Claymoresare worthy of being the most fearless. One of their more prominent members, Teresa of the Faint Smile, isn’t just hard to scare when it comes to fighting demons.
Teresa is one of the few Claymore that isn’t afraid to follow her heart and break the rules to do the right thing. She defies protocol to save Claire and fights her peers when they turn on her, but she never changes that serene, fearless smile.

3Sailor Pluto (Sailor Moon)
All of the Sailor Guardians are stunning and brave in their way, but it takes a special kind of fearlessness to work alone, so the title goes to Sailor Pluto. It’s a consistent mystery as to who she works with when it comes to the order of the universe.

Pluto’s mysterious powers as the Guardian of Time are never clearly defined in Sailor Moon. She uses her power to stop time only once to save the lives of Neptune and Pluto, despite her assertion that this will have serious consequences. Her signature attack, Dead Screm, is a whisper as opposed to a glittering explosion like those of her fellow soldiers.
2Molly Grue (The Last Unicorn)
The honey badger of the anime world, Molly has exactly zero fanservice left to give, and she doesn’t care how anyone feels about it.A unique anime womanin the sense that she doesn’t have any magical powers or a noble ancestry, Molly’s superpower is how fearless she is.
She snarls at Captain Cully, who she can’t stand, and none of his so-called “merry men” seem to like her very much either, despite her best efforts at making them rat soup. She even tells King Haggard himself exactly where he can go, and everyone has seen the famous scene where she even admonishes the Unicorn for never coming to visit her when she was younger.

1Big Mom (One Piece)
Her real name is Charlotte Linlin, and of course, she’s the leader of the Big Mom Pirates. She’s the unquestioned matriarch of the family, which is considerable in both number and size, consisting of 46 sons, 39 daughters, and 43 husbands.
Anyone with that many kids has to be fearless, but there’s even more to Big Mom’s resume. She’s the Queen of Totto Land, a place where all races can peacefully coexist, even plus-sized ones like herself. She’s also got some interesting Devil Fruit powers inherited from her adopted mother and is the only female member of the Four Emporers.
