Summary
The Teal Mask opened up a new region forPokemon Scarlet & Violetplayers that purchased The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion pass. While new Pokemon and new characters were an expected feature, many Pokemon from returning generations and even Paldea appeared in Kitakami. In fact, some of the Pokemon fromScarlet/Violet’s Paldea Dex are easier to find in Kitakami than they are in Paldea itself.
While the inclusion of Paldean Pokemon in Kitakmi may seem redundant, Teal Mask makes it easier to catch and even Shiny Hunt the less-common species. Depending on the progress players have made inScarlet/Violet’s main story, the level of the Pokemon may be greater than their Paldean versions.

1Petilil
From the Unova Region, Petilil makes a return toScarlet/Violetboth in Paldea and Kitakami. Originally aPokemon White/White2-exclusive, Petilil can be caught in both versions of Gen 9. When exposed to a Sun Stone, it will evolve into Lilligant. However, if trainers evolve their Petilil in Hisui/Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it will becomethe Grass/Fighting-type Hisuian Lilligant.
A well-known spawn point for Petilil is in West Province (Area One), where trainers can fight the Titan Bombirdier in Paldea. Unfortunately, they’re more likely to run into Skiddo than they are Petilil. In Kitakami, Petilil are commonly found by the lake inWistful Fieldsand even alongReveler’s Road. For trainers just starting theirScarlet/Violetjourney, they can catch a Petilil around level 13-16.

2Oricorio
Scarlet/Violetplayers could find Pom-Pom Style and Baile Style Oricorio in South Province (Area One) and East Province (Area One) respectively. Pa’u and Sensu Style could not be found in the wild,so if trainers wanted either of these styles, they would have to use pink and purple nectar. Despite Pom-Pom and Baile Style Oricorio appearing in Paldea, they are rare spawns.
In Teal Mask/Kitakami, there are plenty of Sensu Style Oricorio near the lake inWistful Fields. They spawn near the trees with purple flowers. Unlike Baile Style, Sensu Style are extremely common in this area of Kitakami, making it easier to catch one and potentially Shiny Hunt it. Of course, those that still want Pa’u Style will need to use pink nectar, but for now, this is a more reliable way of catching Oricorio.

3Riolu
Riolu evolves into fan-favorite Fighting/Steel-type Lucario, so it’s not uncommon for trainers to go out of their way to catch the Emanation Pokemon. While not as rare as Pom-Pom Style Oricorio, Riolu has specific spawn locations, only appearing in the South Province (Area Two and Area Four) and North Province (Area One).If trainers are lucky, they’ll spot one or two roaming about.
In Kitakami, Riolus spawn on the mountains onReveler’s Roadalong with Vulpix and Rockruff. Unlike Paldea’s Riolu, trainers have a higher chance of seeing more than two Riolu at a time in Kitakami. Since Reveler’s Road is an area that most trainers will need to pass through to reach the second signpost, they should consider catching a Riolu along the way.

4Mimikyu
Another fan-favorite is the Ghost/Fairy-type Mimikyu. This Pokemon’s true form is unknown, but its iconic Pikachu disguise was a huge hit when it was first revealed inPokemon Sun/Moon. As most would expect, Mimikyu isn’t that common in Paldea. It appears inTagtree Thicketnear the Poison Squad Base, but there’s a higher chance of running into Impidimp and Morgrem than there are Mimikyu.
The Kitakami Mimikyuspawn onInfernal Passand inTimeless Woods. Since there are only 200 Pokemon in the Kitakami Dex, it’s also more likely that a Mimikyu mass outbreak will occur in Kitakami than it would in Paldea. The Infernal Pass Mimikyu are generally weaker than their Timeless Woods counterparts (before the completion of “The Way Home” main quest). Thus, if trainers are looking for a Mimikyu at the start of their journey, they may want to consider catching one in Kitkamia rather than Paldea.

5Applin
Like Mimikyu, Applin prefer to hang around inTagtree Thicket. What makes Applin-hunting frustrating is their tendency to cling to trees rather than spawning on the ground like most Pokemon. Players are going to need to headbutt the trees with Koraidon/Miraidon and hope an Applin falls out. Otherwise, they can hold downZL-buttonto potentially target out-of-reach Applins. These Grass/Dragon-type Pokemon are rare as it is, and there’s nothing about Applin that can stand out to players that aren’t actively looking for one.
Fortunately, Applin gained some traction in The Teal Maskthanks to its new evolution: Dipplin. There’s an area to the west ofMossui TowncalledApple Hillsthat is home to many Applin. Most can be found on apple trees, but with the branches closer to the ground, they’re easier to see. There’s also a slim chance for players to find a bushel of Applins rolling about the Apple Hills. Another spawning point for Applin is inthe garden bythe shed inMossfell Confluence. This is also the place where trainers can buy Syurpy Apples, which is needed to evolve Applin into Dipplin.

6Ralts
While a Ralts can be caught as early asSouth Province (Area One)near Cabo Poco, they’re considered a rarer spawn than the other nearby Fairy-types: Igglybuff and Fidough. As trainers progress through their journey, they’ll have a chance of stumbling upon Kirlia, and even Gardevoir and Gallade. In fact, there’s a Gardevoir up on Glaseado Mountain, but rookie trainers won’t have access to that area until a later point in their playthrough.
Trainers not as fortunate to find a Ralts in South Province (Area One) can instead try their luck in Kitakami. They primarily spawn inWistful Fieldsalong with Kirlia, while stronger Ralts and Kirlias live inTimeless Woods.

7Indeedee
Indeedee is a unique Pokemon like Meowstic, in that their appearance, learnsets, and evenbase statsare different depending on their gender. Male Indeedee have the better Attack, Special Attack, and Speed; female Indeedee have better Defense, Special Defense, and HP. In Paldea, Indeedee appear inNorth Province (Area One)and3/5-star Tera Raids.
The Indeedee native to Kitakamiare not stuck to one habitat, as they can be seen walking in theWistful Fields,Timeless Woods, and onOni Mountain. If trainers are exploring Kitakamibeforecompleting the main story, then the Indeedees in Wistful Fields/Oni Mountain won’t be as high a level as the ones in Paldea/North Province (Area One). Whether Indeedee makes a spot for itself on the team is up to each player, but it’s going to need to be caught to fill out its Dex Entry.
